SEG Solar Produces First HJT Module at Second U.S. Manufacturing Facility
Houston, Texas, September 15, 2026 – SEG Solar (“SEG”), a leading U.S. solar module manufacturer, today announced that the first heterojunction (HJT) module has rolled off the production line at its Tomball #1 manufacturing facility in the Greater Houston area. The achievement marks the start of commercial-scale HJT module production at SEG’s second U.S. factory and expands the company’s advanced manufacturing footprint in North America to include an aggregate of 6GW of module production capacity.

According to SEG, the HJT technology delivers higher bifaciality, a lower temperature coefficient and lower degradation. These characteristics contribute to higher lifetime energy production compared with conventional photovoltaic technologies. SEG said it will continue advancing HJT technology through ongoing product optimization and efficiency improvements, helping customers maximize project value while supporting broader adoption of HJT technology.
Tomball #1 was designed for end-to-end digital management of manufacturing operations from order release and material flow to production execution. AI-enabled inspection and advanced production scheduling tools are integrated throughout the facility to support product quality, traceability and operational efficiency. Combined with industry-leading automation equipment, the manufacturing platform is designed to deliver high-quality, high-reliability solar modules for the U.S. market.
The launch of production at Tomball #1 represents the latest phase of SEG’s U.S. manufacturing expansion. The company has already begun construction of an additional U.S. HJT module manufacturing facility with 4.6GW of annual capacity, which is expected to begin operations in 2027. Once completed, SEG’s total U.S. module manufacturing capacity will exceed 10.6GW. SEG is also advancing a domestic solar campus with U.S. cell production targeted for 2028, completing vertical integration from ingots and wafers to cells and modules.
